The state of Move-to-earn in 2025
Nov 29, 2025
Move-to-earn exploded a few years ago. People rushed to find “the best move-to-earn apps,” “how to earn crypto walking,” or even “which crypto will 1000x.”
If you’ve searched any of that, you’re not alone.
⸻
Step-based rewards broke the category
Most early move-to-earn apps paid people based on distance or step count.
That sounds fair until you realise, steps are easy to fake and GPS can be spoofed.
So the tokens inflated, the value tanked, and users quickly asked the inevitable:
“Are any move-to-earn apps actually legit?”
⸻
The missing piece: intensity verified effort
This is where move-to-earn has to evolve.
Tracking steps isn’t effort.
Tracking distance isn’t effort.
Effort is heart rate, intensity, and how long you actually worked.
That’s exactly why we built MOTRA, and why it solves almost every pain point users search for.
Instead of steps, MOTRA calculates Effort Points using your heart rate zones, the same way athletes measure training load. Hard session? More points. Easy jog? A few points. A fake “session” with no elevated heart rate? Zero.
Those Effort Points convert into a share of a capped monthly token pool.
Not unlimited emissions. Not runaway inflation.
Just proportionate, verified rewards.
⸻
Is any of this worth it financially?
Let’s be honest.
A lot of people search:
• “Which crypto will 1000x?”
• “Can I make $100 a day with crypto?”
• “How do I earn 2k fast?”
That’s not how sustainable move-to-earn works.
The goal isn’t to get rich walking to the fridge.
The goal is simple: ****if you train consistently, your effort should hold real, verifiable value.
Move-to-earn only works when it respects the user and respects the token economy. Otherwise you get the same boom and bust pattern we saw in 2022.
⸻
The future of move-to-earn is effort-based
The next generation has to be:
• fair
• verifiable
• cheat resistant
• transparent
• capped in supply
• and built for people who actually train
That’s the standard we’re building toward with MOTRA.
